Candidates must possess an active special education license and practical experience working with diverse student populations in educational settings. A strong understanding of systematic phonics-based programs, such as Orton Gillingham or Wilson, is preferred, along with hands-on experience tutoring in reading and writing and the ability to differentiate reading strategies for individual learners. Familiarity with neuropsychological principles in education, effective communication skills with teachers, parents, and students, and tech-savviness with experience in tele-health services are essential. Applicants must also have a private workspace with reliable internet, a computer, and a webcam, and be available during traditional school hours, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of 10 hours per week. Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
The Specialized Education Teacher will provide remote special education support to suspended or expelled students, delivering compensatory education services as needed. Responsibilities include developing and implementing individualized lesson plans to improve reading and writing skills, creating and managing IEPs, and providing case management services. The role also involves collaborating with families to schedule and tailor services, conducting screenings, progress monitoring, and outcomes assessments, and educating families on strategies to support their child's learning journey. Maintaining accurate session documentation in line with company policies is also required.
