Requirements

  • Associates Degree in electrical/electronic technology
  • Valid State Driver's License
  • Within 24 months of employment, successfully complete the Company's training and qualification program including classroom instruction, written examination, job mentoring, and job performance demonstrations
  • Work overtime as needed including extended daily shifts and weekends; work late shifts as needed
  • Work independently under semi-direct supervision in a safe, efficient, and productive manner
  • Proficiently use computers and applications related to this position
  • Effectively communicate with other employees, customers, and the general public in a courteous and appropriate manner
  • Promote a positive image of the Company to customers and the general public; comply with all aspects of the AEP Corporate Code of Conduct
  • Report hazards and abnormal conditions
  • Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees
  • Live within a 30-minute safe driving distance of the Marion Service Center located at 4504 S. Lincoln Blvd. Marion, IN
  • Ability to perform Medium Work: Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects

Responsibilities

  • Install and maintain self-contained electric meters energized up to 240 volts in the shop and on customer premises
  • Read meters as required for field order and on schedule for cycle billing
  • Install, remove, change disconnect, and reconnect meters
  • Test singlephase, network, and polyphase self-contained meters for proper operation and accuracy
  • Program meters
  • Perform Credit and Collections related orders including disconnect and reconnect for non-payment
  • Investigate irregular usage
  • Investigate energy diversion
  • Repair meters, meter sockets, and meter enclosures
  • Order, receive, ship, store, and inventory meter and associated equipment
  • Investigate self-contained service power quality problems, install event recorders, neutral testers, and produce reports
  • Perform work from ladders and elevated platforms
