Requirements

  • BS, MS, or PhD in CS, EE, or related discipline or equivalent experience
  • Advanced Java skills (primary skill)
  • Excellent communication skills (customer-facing)
  • Ability to mentor team from Java language perspective and enhance core competencies
  • Excellent debugging skills to resolve complex issues; expert in one debugging tool
  • Good understanding of build process
  • Knowledge of boot sector coding (added advantage)
  • Knowledge of building third-party libraries (added advantage)
  • Good knowledge of communication protocols
  • Patent on name (very good factor)
  • Good knowledge of scripts (Perl or Python) (added advantage)
  • Excellent logical thinking and "never say die" attitude to resolve issues
  • Very strong command on one operating system/kernel and ability to mentor/resolve complex OS issues
  • Good exposure to Virtualization, Cloud computing, or containerization
  • Use of multiple languages preferred

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and grow existing team’s skillset
  • Work closely with other software development and quality assurance teams
  • Provide technical direction for team
  • Build schedules and estimate people and equipment resources
  • Manage resource levels and determine if outside resources are required
  • Coordinate resource allocation with other departments
  • Coordinate with engineering departments to improve overall solution, focusing on customer requirements and expectations
  • Hire, mentor, and lead multiple software engineering teams through innovations
  • Lead design, implementation, and deployment of highly distributed, large-scale, and resilient applications with major company impact
  • Design, implement, review, and test software applications
  • Participate in reviews of code, design, and requirement specifications to ensure feasibility
  • Conduct and participate in peer reviews to ensure product quality
  • Provide regular updates on progress and delays during development
  • Improve team’s technical capabilities and establish best practices for software development or test in the respective domain
