Requirements

Strong people leadership skills to build, hire, and develop a team of 4-5 security engineers
Deep security expertise across application security, infrastructure security, and corporate security to coach specialists and set architectural direction
Ability to translate security decisions into business value
Engineering management experience with enough technical depth to establish security policies, architecture standards, threat modeling, and design reviews
Capability to create processes for design reviews, architecture guidance, and a 6-12 month roadmap aligned with security strategic plans (e.g., ISO 27001 compliance)
Experience fostering a culture where security accelerates business velocity rather than creating friction
Availability for hybrid work with presence in San Francisco, San Jose, or Seattle office 4 days per week (Tuesday as work-from-home day)

Responsibilities

Build, hire, and develop a high-performing team of 4-5 security engineers with expertise in application security, infrastructure security, and corporate security
Coach team members through complex security problems
Set team priorities and architectural direction
Establish security policies and architecture standards as advisors to Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, and IT teams
Conduct threat modeling and design reviews for critical systems
Create implementation guidance for engineering teams
Develop customer-facing security documentation and participate in enterprise security discussions
Build processes for design reviews and architecture guidance that scale with growth
Develop a 6-12 month roadmap aligned with Lambda's 2026 security strategic plan, including compliance initiatives like ISO 27001
Foster a culture where security judgment accelerates business velocity
