Requirements

  • Strong people leadership skills to build, hire, and develop a team of 4-5 security engineers
  • Deep security expertise across application security, infrastructure security, and corporate security to coach specialists and set architectural direction
  • Ability to translate security decisions into business value
  • Engineering management experience with enough technical depth to establish security policies, architecture standards, threat modeling, and design reviews
  • Capability to create processes for design reviews, architecture guidance, and a 6-12 month roadmap aligned with security strategic plans (e.g., ISO 27001 compliance)
  • Experience fostering a culture where security accelerates business velocity rather than creating friction
  • Availability for hybrid work with presence in San Francisco, San Jose, or Seattle office 4 days per week (Tuesday as work-from-home day)

Responsibilities

  • Build, hire, and develop a high-performing team of 4-5 security engineers with expertise in application security, infrastructure security, and corporate security
  • Coach team members through complex security problems
  • Set team priorities and architectural direction
  • Establish security policies and architecture standards as advisors to Product Engineering, Platform Engineering, and IT teams
  • Conduct threat modeling and design reviews for critical systems
  • Create implementation guidance for engineering teams
  • Develop customer-facing security documentation and participate in enterprise security discussions
  • Build processes for design reviews and architecture guidance that scale with growth
  • Develop a 6-12 month roadmap aligned with Lambda's 2026 security strategic plan, including compliance initiatives like ISO 27001
  • Foster a culture where security judgment accelerates business velocity
