Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in product design, with 2+ years in a lead or management role
  • Proven experience designing and delivering complex SaaS or enterprise products
  • Comfortable operating as a player-coach — managing others while contributing hands-on to design work
  • Deep experience in user testing and validation — testing is second nature in your process, not an afterthought
  • Skilled in discovery and storytelling; able to influence product direction through insight and design rationale
  • AI-forward mindset — familiar with AI-assisted design or workflows and ready to demonstrate how you’ve leveraged AI to accelerate creativity, research, or prototyping
  • Confident partnering with PM and Engineering to drive prioritization, scope, and trade-offs
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills across distributed teams and time zones
  • Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma preferred) and a strong grasp of design systems and UX best practices
  • Based in Romania, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams in other regions

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small team of product designers working on key areas of 8x8’s product platform
  • Actively contribute to design projects, from discovery to delivery — defining user journeys, flows, and interactions
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leads to identify opportunities and influence product strategy through design insights
  • Champion design’s role as a strategic partner in defining “what” and “why,” not just “how.”
  • Create clarity and focus for the team, setting clear goals and maintaining accountability
  • Build and sustain an inclusive, feedback-driven design culture grounded in collaboration and craft excellence
  • Elevate design quality by improving processes, critique practices, and documentation standards
  • Foster strong relationships across geographies, ensuring effective async communication and alignment with global teams
  • Advocate for users and data-informed decisions that connect customer value with business outcomes
