Requirements

  • Proven experience in FP&A or cost accounting, particularly in cost controlling, budgeting, product costing, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with accounting, Operations/CLIA Lab, IT/Facilities, and other teams
  • Experience driving COGS modeling, tracking improvement targets, and measuring performance
  • Expertise in standard cost set-up, COGS analytics, actual cost variances, forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning
  • Knowledge of monthly/quarterly close processes for COGS and inventory, including journal entries, audit/SOX schedules
  • Familiarity with inventory analysis for excess/obsolete reserves and related accounting entries
  • Experience developing processes, procedures, and SOX controls for inventory accuracy
  • Collaborative, mission-driven mindset suitable for a high-growth biotech environment
  • Hybrid work capability based in Brisbane, California

Responsibilities

  • Work cross-functionally with accounting, Operations/CLIA Lab, IT/Facilities to deliver cost accounting solutions supporting business needs
  • Drive forward-looking COGS modeling and review process, standardize modeling, track improvement targets, and measure performance vs. target
  • Provide robust challenge to Operations/CLIA Lab budgets and forecasts during planning/budgeting
  • Oversee standard cost set-up, lead monthly COGS analytics, actual cost variances, quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, long-range plans, with emphasis on product costing
  • Provide financial direction and strategic insight to functional leaders, define short/long-term goals, identify value drivers and KPIs, challenge during planning
  • Handle monthly/quarterly close of COGS and inventory, including journal entries, meeting close timelines, providing audit/SOX schedules
  • Manage monthly meetings with Operations/CLIA Lab and Supply Chain to analyze inventory for excess/obsolete reserves and make related entries per policy
  • Collaborate with accounting on developing processes, procedures, and SOX controls for inventory data accuracy and implement changes
