Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck or automotive systems: Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions
At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks
Valid Driver’s License
Ability to maintain expert knowledge and advanced working proficiency in vehicle components and systems, including chassis, refuse bodies (control, hydraulic, electrical), air and hydraulic braking systems, engine, suspension, drivetrain, steering, and heating/air conditioning systems
(Pluses, not required): At least 3 years of experience in a role requiring compliance with OSHA Haz Com, OSHA Lock Out Tag Out, and OSHA fire protection regulations; At least 1 year of supervisory or lead technician experience; ASE Heavy Truck Certifications (T1-T8); Class B or higher Commercial Driver’s License
Responsibilities
Provides direction to technicians to ensure repairs and maintenance comply with company safety standards and federal/state regulations
Handles all chassis (diesel/non-diesel equipment/trucks) and refuse bodywork, including hydraulic, electrical, heating, and air conditioning systems
Diagnoses complex repair work and coaches subordinate technicians on diagnostic techniques
Performs external repair inspections to ensure safe completion
Schedules repair work for the group to ensure timely completion and minimize lost productivity
Performs complex repairs on-site and on-road for chassis components, refuse bodies, braking systems, engines, suspension/drivetrain/steering, and HVAC
Performs line maintenance welding and fabrication
Inspects third-party vendor repairs for compliance and follows up as needed
Identifies malfunctions using electronic tools
Completes company training programs
Handles Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed
