Requirements

Candidates must possess a Machinist Apprenticeship or an Associate's degree in Machining Technology or an equivalent qualification. They should have at least one to three years of experience in fabrication and welding within heavy industry, manufacturing, or mining, with preferred experience involving machinery operation. Demonstrated proficiency in all categories of Machining Technology, including critical alignments and sophisticated measuring tools is required, as well as competence in manipulating numbers, quantities, shapes, and spaces, and the ability to take precise measurements and calculate necessary dimensions. A valid Colorado Driver's License is also necessary, along with the ability to perform installation and set-up of ‘Class 5’ bearings & Babbitt Bearing Fits.

Responsibilities

The Machinist will machine, disassemble, and assemble parts for equipment and machines in a safe manner, utilizing lathes, milling machines, and other shop equipment. They will read prints and drawings, layout and plan work according to blueprints, select appropriate materials and machines, and test, inspect, dismantle, assemble, and repair machined product accurately. The Machinist will also perform routine maintenance, assist Maintenance personnel, work in both inside and outside environmental conditions, observe all safety rules and LOTO procedures, and maintain a clean and orderly work area. Additionally, they will be responsible for handling materials, equipment, and tools safely, and performing installations and repairs as assigned.
