Requirements

Candidates must possess 8+ years of industry experience in building and deploying ML systems at scale, with demonstrated success in leading end-to-end ML projects that drove measurable business outcomes. Deep expertise in personalization, ranking, or user modeling, along with strong intuition around user behavior in consumer products, is required. Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and common ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or XGBoost is essential. Strong communication and leadership skills are necessary to influence roadmaps and align cross-functional teams. Prior experience building ML applications in E-commerce or Social products, and experience in growth domains such as user segmentation, retention modeling, large-scale recommendation systems, or notification ranking are preferred qualifications. Team members are required to be within commuting distance of Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, or New York hubs.

Responsibilities

The Machine Learning Engineer will lead the design, development, and productionization of ML models powering user acquisition, activation, and retention, including ranking models, targeting systems, and uplift modeling. They will own the full model lifecycle from data collection and feature engineering to model training, evaluation, deployment, and online experimentation. This role involves identifying and prioritizing high-impact opportunities where machine learning can unlock growth, collaborating with product, engineering, data, and marketing stakeholders. Additionally, the engineer will drive technical excellence and establish ML best practices across the Buyer Growth team.
