Requirements

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Member of the New York State Bar; admission to the New Jersey State Bar a plus
  • Seasoned litigator with a minimum of 5 years of real estate litigation experience, including depositions, mediations, trials, and appeals
  • Experience with title insurance defense and the tripartite relationship is highly desirable
  • Ability to think outside the box and find creative resolutions
  • Strong critical thinking, decision making, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Represent insured owners and lenders in resolving a wide range of real estate title issues, including defective or fraudulent deeds and mortgages, lien priority disputes, boundary disputes, lack of legal access, missing interests, competing chains of title, and encroachments
  • Manage an assigned caseload from the initial investigation to a final litigated resolution, including examining title, developing resolution and litigation strategies, drafting and obtaining curative documents, negotiating pre-suit settlements, and prosecuting or defending litigation through trial and appeal
