Requirements

  • Experience working with configuration management tools, ideally Ansible (or Puppet, Chef, SaltStack)
  • Scripting and automation experience with one or more of the following: Bash, Python, or another high-level programming language
  • Highly adept at debugging and troubleshooting using command line tools (e.g. ss, iostat, dig, ethtool)
  • Extensive Linux support and engineering experience in a high availability environment (RedHat/Debian-based, or similar variants)
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Previous experience tuning Linux systems for trading applications desirable
  • Excellent grasp of IP networking fundamentals, protocols and services
  • Experience with monitoring/alerting with Prometheus/AlertManager/PagerDuty

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with a global Linux Engineering team for coordinating work, engineering projects, changes, and on-call schedules
  • Serving as a liaison between the Linux Engineering team and trading desks and teams
  • Configuring, deploying and maintaining DRW’s Linux environments in a declarative and repeatable manner using Ansible
  • Actively monitoring the health of our entire Linux server environment using Prometheus; performing day to day troubleshooting
  • Application packaging and maintenance of software repositories
  • Automating repetitive system administration tasks
  • Evaluating and recommending new hardware and software technologies or solutions
