Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) or Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree
  • Licensed to practice law in Canada and/or the United States
  • 2-4 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm and/or as in-house counsel, preferably with exposure to international, multi-jurisdictional matters
  • Broad commercial experience with extensive background in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, terms and conditions, and other similar contracts
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English (fluency required); French is a strong asset
  • Ability to prioritise and manage competing demands in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Drafting and negotiating commercial contracts with customers, strategic partners, and vendors/suppliers across NOAM, EMEA and APAC
  • Delivering legal and general commercial advice to key stakeholders across all Lightspeed departments
  • Documenting legal know-how and delivering training to the wider Legal Team and business stakeholders
  • Identifying and advising on legal risks and compliance issues relating to the structuring, development and marketing of new products or features
  • Performing quick, focused legal research and analysis
  • Helping manage legal aspects of complex, cross-functional, multi-jurisdictional projects
  • Suggesting, building and improving upon the Legal Team’s operations and processes
  • Monitoring changes to regulatory requirements and proactively handling regulatory developments
  • Supporting litigation and other disputes management
  • Managing investigations by and requests from regulatory bodies and government authorities
