J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in at least one state bar
4-7 years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house practice
Broad-based legal experience; ability to spot issues across commercial contracts, corporate, employment, and regulatory domains
Experience in fintech, financial services, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred
Strong judgment and business sense; ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
Excellent communication skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach
Comfort working independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment while collaborating across functions

Responsibilities

Serve as a versatile legal advisor across Branch’s business units, balancing commercial, product, compliance, and corporate needs
Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements (customer, vendor, partnership, marketing, and technology)
Provide practical guidance on financial technology law matters, privacy, IP, and corporate governance as they arise
Support product teams on development and go-to-market strategies, ensuring alignment with wage & hour, payments, and consumer financial protection laws
Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to operationalize regulatory requirements and advise on policy updates
Assist with corporate governance, including board materials, and corporate filings
Develop templates, playbooks, and scalable processes to improve efficiency and consistency across the Legal team
Collaborate directly with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and risk management
