Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited U.S. law school and active membership in at least one state bar
  • 4-7 years of legal experience, ideally with a mix of law firm and in-house practice
  • Broad-based legal experience; ability to spot issues across commercial contracts, corporate, employment, and regulatory domains
  • Experience in fintech, financial services, or another highly regulated industry strongly preferred
  • Strong judgment and business sense; ability to balance legal risk with business priorities
  • Excellent communication skills, with a practical, solution-oriented approach
  • Comfort working independently in a dynamic, high-growth environment while collaborating across functions

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a versatile legal advisor across Branch’s business units, balancing commercial, product, compliance, and corporate needs
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of agreements (customer, vendor, partnership, marketing, and technology)
  • Provide practical guidance on financial technology law matters, privacy, IP, and corporate governance as they arise
  • Support product teams on development and go-to-market strategies, ensuring alignment with wage & hour, payments, and consumer financial protection laws
  • Partner with Compliance and Risk teams to operationalize regulatory requirements and advise on policy updates
  • Assist with corporate governance, including board materials, and corporate filings
  • Develop templates, playbooks, and scalable processes to improve efficiency and consistency across the Legal team
  • Collaborate directly with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and risk management
