Candidates should possess the ability to categorize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, including legal cases and regulatory obligations, and demonstrate willingness to craft clear, thoughtful, and timely communications with attorneys, members of the Wikimedia communities, and the general public. They should also have data analysis, report generation, and content writing skills, along with strategic thinking and project management abilities. Familiarity with Wikimedia community structures and editorial processes, Zendesk or similar customer support software, Asana or similar project management software, wikitext writing and markup, and experience with legal and/or compliance workflows are preferred. Proficiency or fluency in languages in addition to English, particularly German, is desirable.
The Legal Case Specialist will analyze and respond to legal requests and demands received by the Wikimedia Foundation, track, prioritize, and escalate relevant cases to Wikimedia Foundation attorneys or Trust & Safety Specialists, think holistically about legal workflows and identify areas for improvement, run reports, analyze data, and draft content for bi-annual Transparency Reports, assist with technology regulatory compliance including liaising across departments to gather information and documentation for annual audits, and implement audit recommendations. They will also communicate with various outside parties including attorneys, volunteers, vendors, and members of the public, and cross train on and assist with other legal affairs workflows as needed.
