Candidates should possess the ability to categorize and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, including legal cases and regulatory obligations, demonstrating strategic thinking and project management skills. Familiarity with Wikimedia community structures and editorial processes, as well as experience with legal and/or compliance workflows, is preferred. Proficiency or fluency in languages beyond English, particularly German, is desirable, along with skill and familiarity with Zendesk or similar customer support software, Asana or similar project management software, and wikitext writing and markup.
The Legal Case Specialist will analyze and respond to legal requests and demands received by the Wikimedia Foundation, tracking, prioritizing, and escalating relevant cases to attorneys or Trust & Safety Specialists. They will also think holistically about legal workflows, identifying areas for improvement, running reports, analyzing data, and drafting content for bi-annual Transparency Reports. Furthermore, the specialist will assist with technology regulatory compliance, including liaising across departments to gather information and documentation for annual audits, and assisting with the implementation of audit recommendations, communicating with various outside parties such as attorneys, volunteers, vendors, and the public. They will also cross-train on and assist with other legal affairs workflows as needed.
