- 8+ years of professional experience in software support at an enterprise level
- 1–3 years of technical leadership experience
- BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related IT field
- Extensive hands-on enterprise JAVA application and Spring Boot development experience
- In-depth knowledge of retail POS processes (customer-facing and back-office)
- Extensive experience with PCI & PII security standards
- Knowledge of best practices and IT design and development patterns and standards
- Hands-on expertise in a wide range of technologies, from front-end user interfaces to back-end systems
- Experience troubleshooting issues across a complex IT ecosystem
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and architect new and existing systems
- Participate in enterprise architecture reviews and provide recommendations to align POS systems with strategic investments
- Serve as a technical lead for medium to large complex projects and feature enhancements
- Collaborate with Product Management, Project Management, Business, and User Experience teams to identify and prioritize initiatives and features
- Participate in grooming and priority setting sessions, accountable for project sizing and estimation
- Evaluate new tools, technologies, and processes to improve speed, efficiency, and scalability
- Monitor server and application performance using tools like NewRelic, CloudWatch, and Sumologic
- Work closely with other development teams across Petco to troubleshoot issues, perform performance tuning, and identify opportunities for seamless integrations
- Provide coaching and technical guidance to Software Engineers at various experience levels
