Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a technician working on heavy-duty trucks
  • Ability to perform inspections and repairs without supervision in some (not all required) of the following heavy truck or automotive systems: Suspensions, Steering, General Engine, Transmissions, Brakes, Electrical, Hydraulics, Drive Train, Diesel Emissions
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Availability for 2nd shift: Monday - Friday starting at 3:30pm, with occasional Saturdays

Responsibilities

  • Maintain expert knowledge and advanced proficiency in chassis components, refuse bodies (including control, hydraulic, and electrical systems), air and hydraulic braking systems, engine repair and maintenance, suspension, drivetrain, steering systems, and heating/air conditioning systems; perform complex repairs on-site and on the road
  • Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication
  • Provide direction to technicians in the work group to ensure repairs and maintenance are safe, efficient, and timely; plan and schedule repair work to minimize lost productivity
  • Inspect repairs done by third-party vendors to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up as necessary
  • Perform diagnostics on complex repairs and identify malfunctions using electronic tools
  • Coach and mentor subordinate technicians on diagnostic techniques
  • Perform external repair inspections to ensure safe work practices
  • Complete applicable company training programs
  • Handle Maintenance Supervisor responsibilities as needed
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
