Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or science/technical field strongly preferred, with a minimum of 12 hours in chemistry course work (applicable experience can be substituted for chemistry course work)
  • Minimum of two years previous laboratory experience required (clinical/research acceptable)
  • Basic laboratory skills such as quantitative and qualitative testing, ability to interpret results
  • Experience with gas or liquid chromatography, ICP and/or discrete liquid analysis a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite, LIMS, SAP and statistical software
  • Basic troubleshooting skills with the ability to escalate problems
  • Experience with regulatory certifications/accreditations such as ISO 9001, cGMPS, FCC, and ASTM
  • High degree of organizational skills to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work a 12-hour rotating day shift schedule with holidays and weekends; occasional overtime, nights and callouts required
  • Physical abilities: frequently sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach, talk/hear; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch; lift up to 10 lbs frequently and 50 lbs infrequently; specific vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, adjust focus
  • Ability to make minor decisions requiring limited judgement, general decisions without specific directions, and perform activities requiring sustained concentration

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate a strong safety mindset through personal behavior and commitment to environmental, health & safety policies
  • Comply with Laboratory Safety Policy and site HSP’s
  • Participate in the PACE safety culture
  • Write permits and work orders in accordance with company environmental, health and safety and operational procedures
  • Report injuries, incidents and hazards to supervision as soon as reasonably possible
  • Conduct tasks and operational duties with appropriate PPE as assigned
  • Review JHA for appropriate PPE needed for routine and non-routine duties
  • Actively participate in unit safety training and monthly safety modules
  • Membership on the Emergency Response Team
  • Analyze raw material, in-process materials, environmental samples and finished products related to sites operational units using Laboratory standard operating procedures and specifications
  • Review all results and report them accordingly to the proper operating unit
  • Input of data into LIMS/SAP
  • Assist with preventive maintenance of instrumentation
  • Assist with troubleshooting of instrumentation
  • Assist with laboratory housekeeping and 5S to maintain clean working environment
  • Perform assigned duties needed to keep the lab functioning efficiently
  • Carry out other activities/tasks as needed/assigned by management
