Requirements

  • Adheres to the FMCNA Compliance Program, including all regulatory and company policy requirements
  • Completes monthly audit exam to stay current on internal policies
  • Day-to-day work includes desk and personal computer work, interaction with patients and facility staff in a health care facility environment

Responsibilities

  • Meets regularly with dialysis patients at clinic(s) in assigned region to educate and coordinate insurance options, including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA
  • Ensures patients follow through with application processes, obtains premium statements and signatures
  • Discusses insurance options for changes in employment status or other situations
  • Completes and follows up on paperwork for disputed claims due to non-payment
  • Collects documents for initial and annual indigent waivers
  • Discusses insurance options when contracts are terminated
  • Determines Medicare eligibility by meeting patients and contacting Social Security offices
  • Assists eligible patients with Medicare applications and acts as liaison for terminations and reinstatements
  • Completes annual open enrollment and Medicare reinstatement papers
  • Tracks 30-month coordination period for patients on employer Group Health Plans
  • Monitors and verifies Medicaid status monthly, including spend down amounts
  • Evaluates personal financial information to determine indigent program eligibility and completes initial/annual indigent waiver applications
  • Monitors all patients' insurance information for accuracy and updates for Accounts Receivable Department; addresses anomalies/discrepancies
  • Meets with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments
  • Prepares, analyzes, and reviews monthly reports on caseload progress; audits billing system reports for correct insurance info and corrects discrepancies
  • Provides QA team with monthly info on primary/secondary insurance status and action plans
  • Presents on insurance and financial assistance options as necessary
  • Assists with various projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned; may focus on specific departments/locations per addendum
