Requirements

  • Ability to meet regularly with dialysis patients at clinic(s) in assigned region
  • Knowledge of insurance options including Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, and COBRA
  • Capability to determine Medicare eligibility by meeting patients and contacting Social Security offices
  • Skills in evaluating personal financial information for indigent program determinations
  • Proficiency in preparing, analyzing, and reviewing monthly reports and patient reports from billing systems
  • Ability to conduct research, correct discrepancies, and address anomalies in insurance information
  • Comfortable with desk work, personal computer use, and interaction with patients and staff in a health care facility environment
  • Willingness to complete monthly audit exams to stay current on internal policies
  • Adherence to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory, and company policy requirements

Responsibilities

  • Educate dialysis patients on alternative insurance options and ensure follow-through on applications
  • Obtain premium statements and signatures from patients; discuss changes in employment or situations
  • Complete and follow up on disputed claims paperwork for non-payment
  • Collect documents for initial and annual indigent waivers
  • Discuss insurance options upon termination of insurance contracts
  • Determine Medicare eligibility, assist with applications, act as liaison for terminations and reinstatements, complete annual open enrollment and reinstatement papers
  • Track 30-month coordination period for patients on employer Group Health Plans
  • Monitor and verify Medicaid status monthly, including spend down amounts
  • Work with patients to complete initial and annual indigent waiver applications
  • Monitor all patients' insurance information for accuracy and update Accounts Receivable Department
  • Address anomalies, research, and answer questions on insurance discrepancies
  • Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports to track caseload progress; audit billing system reports and correct discrepancies
  • Provide QA team with monthly information on insurance status and plans of action
  • Complete monthly audit exams
  • Present on insurance and financial assistance options as necessary
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by supervisor
  • Other duties as assigned; may focus on specific departments or locations
