Requirements

  • Experience managing an accounting team across multiple countries and companies
  • Expertise in controlling and ensuring accuracy of the General Ledger
  • Proficiency in month-end financial close procedures, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Knowledge of Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls
  • Competence in statutory accounting, corporation tax, VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales List reporting and compliance
  • Ability to handle statutory/corporate reconciliations and European consolidation activities
  • Skills in managing audits and compliance activities
  • Capability to drive process improvements, hiring, staff development, and transitions
  • Experience owning and delivering policy, process, project changes, and externally driven changes (e.g., regulations)
  • Strong collaboration skills with business teams and participation in senior management
  • Ability to lead and participate in strategic financial projects and provide accounting/financial advice

Responsibilities

  • Manage an accounting team working across multiple countries and companies
  • Control and manage the accuracy of the General Ledger for required companies
  • Complete all relevant month-end financial close procedures, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and variance analysis
  • Prepare and be responsible for internal reporting required within Europe and to the US head office
  • Carry out relevant Sarbanes-Oxley controls
  • Handle statutory accounting and corporation tax requirements for required companies
  • Perform statutory/corporate reconciliations and European consolidation activities
  • Control and prepare VAT, Intrastat, and EC Sales List reporting; submit VAT returns and ensure related compliance
  • Manage audit and compliance activities across the team
  • Support other accountants in the wider team to meet finance department needs
  • Drive development of new/efficient processes and procedures within the accounting team
  • Manage hiring activities, staff development, and transitions within the team
  • Own and deliver company changes to policy, processes, and projects for the team and related countries
  • Own and deliver externally driven changes, such as regulatory changes
  • Collaborate effectively with different parts of the business as required
  • Participate as part of the Senior Management Team, engaging in meetings, driving projects, inputting ideas, and supporting the accounting team's goals
  • Lead and participate in strategic financial projects
  • Provide advice and guidance on accounting and financial implications to business teams
