Requirements

  • Highly motivated and qualified individual flexible to accept lead roles in teams such as General Accounting, FP&A, Tax Compliance, Statutory Reporting and Compliance
  • Knowledge of tax principles applied in countries in-scope to optimize minimal scrutiny and audit assessments
  • Expertise in US GAAP for monthly/quarterly/annual tax closing and reporting
  • Ability to review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations, including high-risk processes, as reviewer, approver, and 1st level escalations
  • Knowledge of GM accounting policies and procedures, internal controls, and external regulatory requirements
  • Experience supporting internal and external audits, including leading and facilitating audits with implementation of controls post-audit
  • Knowledge of accounting processes across business areas or systems, ability to interpret data, identify and resolve issues, and provide clear reporting
  • Ability to own highly complex processes (e.g., regional scope and multiple cross-functional seams), manage touchpoints, resolve tradeoffs for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Knowledge of indirect taxes and developments affecting the business/country
  • Adept in managing and engaging a large, diverse group of professionals, ensuring growth opportunities
  • Skills in employee goal setting, CAP, and development linked to GM GBS objectives
  • Ability to provide guidance and expertise on Accounting Standards and regulatory compliance
  • Superior stakeholder management, strengthening relationships with Controllership stakeholders, serving as liaison
  • Focus on customer service, developing/monitoring/publishing SLA/KPI dashboards, engaging stakeholders
  • Ability to maintain relationships with GBS/GM Controllership teams and drive performance
  • Leadership in transformation, executing continuous improvements, redefining processes, raising service levels
  • Willingness to work night shift hybrid role (report to office 3 times per week or as dictated by business)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the function in accordance with tax principles to optimize minimal scrutiny and audit assessments from jurisdictional reviews
  • Timely and quality review and submission of tax returns (VAT/GST, Corporate Income Tax, Property Tax, annual reports)
  • Manage execution of monthly/quarterly/annual tax closing and reporting per US GAAP, including timely journal entries and accounts reconciliation
  • Review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations for high-risk processes; handle 1st level escalations
  • Maintain complete and current Tax department policies and procedures; ensure compliance with GM policies, internal controls, and regulations
  • Support internal and external audits; lead and facilitate audits with post-audit control implementation
  • Apply knowledge of accounting processes, interpret data to identify/resolve issues, provide clear reporting, analyze for improvements
  • Own highly complex processes, manage touchpoints/seams, resolve tradeoffs for sustainable effectiveness/efficiency
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of indirect taxes and developments affecting the business/country
  • Develop case for change, communicate progress/status, lead transition plans for processes, organization, systems, tools
  • Bring suspected accounting/control issues forward immediately and find quick solutions
  • Manage and engage large, diverse group of professionals; create workplace of choice with growth opportunities
  • Develop employee goal setting/CAP and development linked to GM GBS objectives
  • Provide guidance/expertise to staff on Accounting Standards and regulatory compliance
  • Strengthen relationships with Controllership stakeholders; serve as liaison on key engagements
