Requirements

  • Have actually run campaigns end-to-end — not just “helped the team.”
  • Know the difference between B2B nurture and B2C sales emails — and can shift tone for each
  • Care about numbers: open rate, CTR, conversion — not just pretty templates
  • Can work fractionally (5–15 hrs/week) across three brands and switch contexts without losing focus
  • Don’t need handholding. If a campaign underperforms, you bring a fix, not excuses
  • Track record of project completion with success rates
  • Nice to have: Experience with both service businesses and e-commerce
  • Nice to have: Basic HTML/CSS so you’re not stuck when formatting breaks
  • Nice to have: Past work samples that show results

Responsibilities

  • Build and run campaigns on Mailchimp and Klaviyo
  • Segment lists properly (no blasting everyone with the same email)
  • Create automation flows: welcomes, re-engagements, upsells, workshop reminders
  • Write subject lines and copy that cut through inbox clutter — no clichés, no “newsletter filler.”
  • Test what works (A/B subject lines, send times, CTAs) and kill what doesn’t
  • Keep lists clean and deliverability high
  • Report weekly on what’s working — and what’s not

Substack

Digital publishing platform for subscription-based content

About Substack

Substack is a digital publishing platform that connects writers and readers. It allows creators, such as authors, journalists, and chefs, to share their work through newsletters, blogs, podcasts, and videos. Creators can set their own subscription fees, ranging from $5 to $27 per month, enabling them to earn money directly from their content without relying on traditional publishing or advertising. Substack handles administrative tasks, billing, and technical support, allowing creators to focus on their writing. The platform also helps creators grow their audience, as a significant portion of new subscriptions comes from within the Substack network. Substack earns revenue by taking a percentage of the subscription fees, aligning its success with that of its creators. The goal of Substack is to empower creators to monetize their work while providing the necessary tools for managing and expanding their subscriber base.
