Responsibilities

  • Provide field support for Natural Resources Management (NRM) Timber Hydro team, including Timber Cruising and marking
  • Complete Timber Harvest plans and provide oversight of compliance with timber sale contracts, Forest Practice Rules, and timber harvest permits
  • Support federal agency timber sales
  • Prepare 1600 series permitting applications
  • Conduct Biological surveys and environmental reviews
  • Complete desktop reviews of assigned inspection areas
  • Collect spatial data within approved GIS platform
  • Complete inspection reports with narrative descriptions of road conditions, suggested work, photos, and maps
  • Oversee contractors performing access road construction and/or maintenance work
  • Conduct safety engagements and report safety hazards, concerns, or nonconformance
  • Review, revise, amend, or prepare Timber Harvesting Plans (THP), Exemptions, timberland conversion permits, or other associated permits
  • Confirm and update Identification, classification, flagging, and marking (with paint) of WLPZs and other protection measures per Forest Practice Rules
  • Identify and flag roads, landings, existing culverts, and locations of existing/new watercourse crossings
  • Confirm or identify feasible yarding methods balancing slope, road access, timber availability, and environmental impacts
  • Establish timber harvest boundaries with paint and flagging; notify PG&E of property corners/lines requiring formal survey
  • Mark or re-mark timber according to existing permits and PG&E tree marking guidelines
  • Ensure silvicultural systems are approved by PG&E
  • Generate mapping in GIS format with final shape files
  • Work at Hydro Power Generation facilities, land, and Systemwide facilities and lands for Cal Fire permitting
