Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems of heavy equipment and vehicles
Advanced knowledge of vehicle body control systems, including hydraulics and electrical systems
Advanced knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems to diagnose and repair complex systems
Advanced knowledge of welding tools to fix heavy equipment
Ability to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions, onsite and on road, including advanced engine chassis repair

Responsibilities
Provide direction to on-site technicians and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair/maintenance work, reallocating resources as needed
Oversee coordination, planning, and scheduling of repair work to increase productivity and manage overtime
Monitor shops' operational performance and efficiency; redirect activities, report to management, and implement procedures for improvements
Oversee daily shop huddles, fleet walk-arounds; coach and counsel lead technicians and supervisors; make hiring/termination decisions with HR and management; oversee training and performance evaluations
Maintain an ongoing preventive maintenance program; identify trends in road calls and breakdowns; oversee facility maintenance; control costs related to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing
Perform inspections of outside repairs to ensure compliance with company safety procedures and federal/state regulations; follow up and identify training opportunities
Accountable for scheduled quality control inspections; track issues and resolutions for compliance
Manage administrative matters including payroll, employee records, maintenance records in software, budget preparation, and setting departmental goals aligned with leadership objectives
