Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific subject area or equivalent work experience – Life Science with exposure to biotechnology workflows an advantage
  • Some prior commercial experience preferred – field, retail & phone-based selling all of interest
  • Exposure to the research/development laboratory and/or a sound understanding of the current marketplace for laboratory equipment, consumables and/or chemicals is preferred
  • Motivated to work independently, with curiosity about the corporate world; validated organizational/collaboration skills and efficient time management
  • Strong communication, presentation, strategic selling, and negotiation skills
  • Ability to connect with customers across a range of settings including one-to-one meetings, exhibitions, and formal presentations
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office, Web-based, and other digital platforms
  • Field diligence in maintaining records & general administrative duties
  • Valid UK driver’s license & willingness to travel on a weekly basis (c.60%) within territory, plus regional & national meetings
  • Based in Oxford or M4 Corridor (e.g. Reading, Swindon, Bristol, Cardiff)

Responsibilities

  • Develop collaborative relationships with customers within the territory, through virtual and in-person interaction to grow RSD business
  • Diversify connections within customer accounts to establish relationships across multiple functions including procurement, laboratory managers and leadership
  • Attract new clients for RSD through promoting schemes for new labs and biotech firms
  • Work with supplier representatives to drive product awareness, customer-centric solutions, and sale execution
  • Harness a cross-functional team of supplier and internal resources to optimize product selection, technical support, and workflow solutions
  • Play an active role in gathering field market intelligence related to new products/services, competitor activity, pricing, and other industry trends
  • Manage and grow sales in the Southern England region for scientific products and services to UK Biotech customers, including lab supplies, equipment, instrumentation, and consumables
  • Work independently while embracing a team-oriented sales strategy, nurturing business connections with clientele and vendors, and exploring fresh business prospects
