This role involves providing field service support for laboratory equipment as part of the Instrument and Enterprise Services team (ULS brand). You will work autonomously, build strong customer relationships, and develop your technical skills.

Requirements

  • Education: Post-secondary school diploma in electronics engineering (minimum).
  • Experience:
    • 2 years of experience in a field service position.
    • Experience working with basic test equipment (DMM, tachometer, temperature devices, etc.).
    • Proven proficiency in multiple vendor product lines.
  • Skills:
    • Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Ability to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficiently.
    • Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving problems using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other user documentation.
  • Other:
    • Requires proof of Covid-19 vaccination.
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
    • Passport required or appropriate work visa for international travel.

Preferred Experience

  • Five plus years in a similar position.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, and maintain laboratory equipment including incubators, centrifuges, water systems, cold storage (refrigerators and freezers), and other equipment.
  • Schedule and complete preventative maintenance service to ensure peak runtime.
  • Understand customer needs to promote service contracts, services, and new equipment.
  • Submit expenses and manage spare parts inventory accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Document daily service actions through the company work order database.
  • Maintain professional and knowledgeable communication with customers regarding service status, cost, and scheduling.
  • Adhere to ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 standards for calibration and certification of customer equipment.
  • Accept training on various equipment and product lines.
  • Work with numerous manufacturers for day-to-day warranty-related instrument service.
  • Mentor and train other colleagues on difficult service calls requiring technical expertise.
  • Support colleagues across the region and country when required.

Work Environment

  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Laboratory Setting.
  • Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.).
  • Will work with hazardous/toxic materials.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance, and carry 25-30 pounds continuously throughout the day.
  • Drive daily to customer sites within a territory, using a fleet vehicle.
  • Some overnight travel will be required.
  • Ability to travel internationally for training.
