Field Service Engineer (Lab Equipment)

Position Overview

Thermo Fisher Scientific is seeking an inquisitive Field Service Engineer to join our Laboratory Equipment (LE) division. This role is responsible for providing sophisticated field service support and managing customer relationships for laboratory equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, install, and maintain various laboratory equipment products, including temperature monitoring, incubators, centrifuges, refrigerators, freezers, and cryogenic storage.
  • Work directly with customers to schedule visits, address concerns, provide reassurance, and resolve problems.
  • Complete learning assignments, read procedures, submit expense reports, and maintain spare part inventory.

Requirements

  • Education:
    • Minimum HS Diploma/GED.
    • Certification, Associate's, or Bachelor's in HVAC, Electronics, or Engineering preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Electrical diagnostics and mechanical diagnostics preferred.
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Problem-Solving Skills: Diagnose and solve issues using schematics, diagrams, service manuals, and other technical resources.

    • Independent: Prioritize tasks, use good judgment, and apply all available resources.
    • Maintain a valid driver's license and safe driving record.

Environmental Conditions

  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance.
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards.
  • Exposure to Cold Room/Freezers (-22°F/-6°C).
  • Exposure to Fluctuating Temperatures (hot/cold).
  • Laboratory Setting.
  • Some degree of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.).

  • Location Type: Remote (commute daily to customer sites).
  • Travel:
    • A Company (Fleet) vehicle is provided for daily travel to multiple customer locations within a defined service area.
    • Overnight travel of approximately 10% is required for customer service and training programs.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Estimated Hourly Pay Range (Colorado): $23.26 – $38.76
  • Bonus Eligibility: May be eligible for a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance.
