Requirements

  • High School education or equivalent preferred; additional mechanic training or trade school degree preferred
  • Minimum of six months previous mechanic experience required
  • Knowledge of equipment repair and operation
  • Able to repair and overhaul warehouse equipment
  • Welding ability
  • Able to read and write legibly
  • Able to follow orders
  • Basic mathematical skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Able to work with little direct supervision
  • Physical ability to: sit occasionally, stand/walk frequently, drive occasionally; lift 1-100 lbs various frequencies, carry 1-100 lbs various frequencies, push/pull occasionally

Responsibilities

  • Perform necessary repairs and maintenance to warehouse-related equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, highlifts, forklifts) to ensure availability for warehouse operations
  • Review equipment reports submitted by warehouse associates, record actions/repairs taken, and maintain a repair log per USF policy
  • Perform preventative maintenance (PMs) on equipment and maintain PM log with proper documentation per USF policy
  • Comply with all USF and government safety guidelines (e.g., Lock Out/Tag Out, placarding, documentation, safe work environment)
  • Maintain and secure the battery-charging area, batteries, and related equipment
  • Responsible for company tools and maintenance equipment, including inventory maintenance, safe operation, proper storage, and security of tool area
  • If authorized, purchase tools and other equipment needs from local vendors
  • Perform light maintenance duties as assigned (e.g., replacement of light bulbs, painting, storage rack repairs, light plumbing, equipment repairs, basic drywall and concrete repairs)
