Requirements

Candidates must be admitted to at least one state bar in the US or be a UK-qualified solicitor or barrister, with over 7 years of post-qualification experience. Significant in-house legal experience with fast-paced tech, telecom, SaaS, or cloud communications companies is required, along with proven ability to manage complex, high-pressure transactions, particularly with MNOs and carrier partners. A strong understanding of the global telecoms regulatory landscape, consumer regulatory matters, antitrust, and Intellectual Property is essential. General knowledge of data privacy laws, including GDPR, and experience integrating compliance into commercial work are also necessary. Exceptional attention to detail, strong verbal/written communication, diplomacy, proactive self-motivation, multitasking, stakeholder management, high integrity, ethical standards, business acumen, problem-solving, and project management skills are expected.

Responsibilities

The Expert Legal Counsel will provide specialist legal advice to various teams, including developers, product managers, and marketing, relating to product development from identification to implementation. They will develop and support customer-friendly, compliant, and risk-appropriate contract templates for products and solutions, incorporating supplier flow-down terms. This role involves serving as the Legal Department's subject matter expert for Vonage products, collaborating with product and legal/compliance teams for end-to-end support, and providing legal guidance on risk mitigation and disputes related to fraudulent or deceptive traffic. The counsel will negotiate with major MNOs and MVNOs, work with international counterparties, and collaborate with internal teams to mitigate business risks and develop practical solutions for managing suppliers, carrier partners, and aggregators. Additionally, they will enhance and standardize contract templates, processes, and procedures for a global framework to enable effective end-to-end management of suppliers, aggregators, and carrier partners.
