Requirements

  • Minimum high school graduate; preferred bachelor's degree in related discipline or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in related field/responsibilities
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in commercial construction or multi-family construction
  • Working knowledge and experience using On Screen Takeoff (OST) and Quick Bid
  • Proficiency in the use of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret building codes
  • Strong math skills including algebra and trigonometry
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to use a computer
  • Ability to learn estimating software
  • Ability to successfully interact with all organizational levels and the public
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others, including customers, builders, peers, and management
  • Ability to manage several activities/projects at once, organize and prioritize work, meet deadlines, and work under little supervision
  • Ability to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, be mobile in the work environment, and work hours mandated by management

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate and timely estimates for siding and cladding materials in commercial and multi-family projects based on engineered and designed plans
  • Produce estimates in a timely fashion according to bid schedules created by the lead Estimator
  • Demonstrate proficiency in using On Screen Takeoff, Quick Bid, and Microsoft Office products
  • Demonstrate proficiency with reading and writing skills for emails, letters, and proposals
  • During a bid, speak with customers, inform them of the bid, ask questions/send RFIs as needed for a complete estimate
  • Review all plans and specs at time of bid to ensure accuracy
  • Produce well-written, detailed, accurate proposals for bids with project-specific inclusions/exclusions and boilerplate items to clearly outline scope
  • Follow up with customers regularly after submitting bids, get feedback, and close deals
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date bid information in the company’s CRM pipeline software, including schedule information, pricing feedback, contact information, and % hot fields
  • Meet bid deadlines, requiring flexibility in hours as necessary to complete work timely
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
