Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED Certificate required; College Certificate/Degree in Industrial Millwright preferred
  • Certified Ontario Trades Person; Licensed to practice as Industrial Millwright 433A required
  • Minimum 3 years industrial mechanic or equivalent maintenance experience, preferably in food, cosmetic or pharmaceutical industries
  • 1–3 years millwright experience preferred
  • Experience reading drawings and schematics
  • Maximo CMMS program experience preferred
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) Regulations
  • Proactive and organized approach to completing tasks timely and efficiently
  • Attention to detail and quality of work
  • Ability to deal confidently with inside and outside clients
  • Good working knowledge of electronics and pneumatics desirable
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office programs
  • Proficiency with the English Language
  • Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
  • Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards
  • Compliance with cleanroom requirements: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair; no contact lenses (prescriptive glasses provided)
  • Some degree of PPE required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs, etc.)
  • Able to work at heights
  • Availability for continental shift schedule: monthly rotation days and nights including weekends, alternating/rotating shifts, and maintenance shutdowns

Responsibilities

  • Ensure process equipment and machinery are maintained in good order under GMP guidelines for maximum equipment uptime
  • Provide technical skilled support and guidance to site operations via specialized maintenance services on a timely basis
  • Repair, rebuild, refurbish machinery and equipment utilizing milling machines, lathes, and all machine shop hand tools
  • Perform general maintenance on production equipment such as Fluid Bed Dryers, Film Coaters, Tablet Presses, Transfer Pumps, Vacuum Systems, Processing Vessels, and auxiliary equipment
  • Maintain production equipment, auxiliary equipment, and building maintenance, including operator training on equipment set up and operation
  • Make arrangements with Group Leaders and Production Supervisors to schedule equipment downtime for maintenance within Preventative Maintenance program timeframes
  • Schedule equipment availability to perform preventative maintenance on time and maintain accurate records according to GMP requirements
  • Participate in Operational meetings, Rapids, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), and others as required
  • Document applicable work activities performed within a CMMS Program
  • Maintain a safe working environment and report potential hazards
  • Follow all Environmental Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
  • Work harmoniously with fellow team members, modelling positive team principles and partnering to meet project and departmental objectives
  • Carry out all duties within strict compliance to Thermo Fisher Scientific quality systems SOPs and GMP
  • Maintain workspace in a clean and orderly fashion
  • Actively engage in and adhere to departmental systems to maintain a smooth and efficient workflow (visual management, scheduling systems, etc.)
  • Be client and patient conscious at all times
  • Understand Key Performance Indicators and strive to improve team performance by identifying areas for system improvements
