Requirements

  • Advanced understanding of NPDES Stormwater Construction General Permit, Clean Water Act Section 404/401 Permitting, National Environmental Policy Act, National Historic Preservation Act, and Endangered Species Act
  • Proficient understanding of many of the following: Aboveground and underground storage tanks, Transportation of hazardous materials, Solid and hazardous waste management, Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures, Wastewater, storm water, groundwater, and drinking water sampling, reporting and control, Oil and chemical spill response and management, Air emissions monitoring, control and reporting, Asbestos and PCB management, Pollution prevention, Environmental site assessments, and Emergency planning, and community right-to-know
  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in an environmental, science, or related discipline
  • Minimum of eight years of environmental experience with an associate degree or six years of environmental experience with a bachelor’s degree
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Key competencies: technical expertise, planning and organization ability, problem solving, written and oral communication skills, and initiative
  • Ability to work autonomously and with limited supervision

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement all environmental activities and policies in the assigned region(s) to ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations and Company policies, standards, procedures and strategic environmental goals. Assist and provide input to Environmental Services on the development of Company environmental policies and procedures. Communicate deviations appropriately
  • Provide training, instruction and assistance to others on the implementation of environmental requirements and assist in the development of environmental training materials
  • Provide support in the event of a release or discharge of a regulated substance including making agency notifications, arranging contractor support, directing cleanup efforts if necessary and completing follow-up reports with regulatory agencies
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices to safeguard employees, contractors, the general public, and Company facilities
  • Provide support during environmental compliance reviews, Phase I or II environmental site assessments and remediation projects
  • Effectively communicate environmental compliance issues to appropriate internal parties
  • Develop and maintain environmental documents and records in accordance with environmental content management standards
  • Conduct environmental reviews of regional disposal contractors and related facilities and manage contracts associated with Environmental Services
