Requirements

Candidates should have 1-3 years of experience managing engineers, ideally in a team of 5-8 people, and a strong backend engineering background of 4+ years with hands-on experience building and operating distributed systems in production. Knowledge of video technologies such as HLS, HEVC, CMAF, transcoding, streaming protocols, and media pipelines is required, along with being organized, proactive, and a clear communicator comfortable in a remote environment. An enjoyment for solving hard technical problems and guiding teams is also essential.

Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will lead and support a team of engineers working on core video services including encoding, packaging, playback, and content delivery. They will collaborate with product, design, and other engineering teams to define goals, scope projects, and deliver customer-loved solutions. This role involves staying close to technical details by reviewing designs, discussing architecture, and guiding trade-offs, while promoting best practices in availability, reliability, and operational excellence for video workloads. The manager will also help their team grow through coaching and feedback, making their work visible, and taking ownership of delivering projects on time and to a high standard.
