Requirements

2+ years of engineering management experience, ideally leading platform, infrastructure, or core services teams
Strong technical background in building distributed systems, APIs, or core platform services
Proven ability to manage team operations—capacity planning, process improvements, and delivery tracking
Skilled in mentoring engineers and fostering a healthy team culture
Excellent communicator who can bridge technical and business perspectives
Startup mindset: resourceful, adaptable, and thrive in fast-moving environments
Bonus Points
Experience with payments, fintech, or other API-driven products
Prior experience at an early-stage, high-growth startup
Hands-on coding experience (technical foundation is key)

Responsibilities

Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing platform engineering team
Drive execution, capacity planning, and delivery for platform initiatives
Implement and improve processes for project tracking, quality, and team productivity
Partner with recruiting to scale the team thoughtfully
Provide technical direction for the platform roadmap, ensuring alignment with company and product goals
Lead architectural discussions and ensure best practices around scalability, reliability, and performance
Collaborate closely with Product, Security, and other Engineering teams to ensure platform unlocks velocity across the company
Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term technical investments
Work closely with the Director of Engineering to define team priorities and success metrics
Partner with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to align platform initiatives with business needs
Communicate progress, challenges, and outcomes to leadership and the broader company
