Requirements

Candidates should possess strong full-stack engineering experience, including ownership of high-volume, high-reliability user-facing experiences and their supporting backend systems within a large codebase. Experience working in a product engineering context, collaborating with non-engineering teams to build cohesive end-to-end systems, is required. Proven experience in coaching and mentoring engineers through significant career achievements is also necessary, along with excellent written and oral communication skills for effective collaboration with design, product, and analytics teams. Familiarity with shaping technical strategy and a background in agile, data-driven environments are beneficial.

Responsibilities

The Engineering Manager will lead a team of 5 to 8 full-stack software engineers to build systems that enhance sellers' ability to list, edit, and update listings with personalized buyer inputs. Responsibilities include participating in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring and onboarding exceptional engineering talent, and serving as a coach, mentor, and advocate for team members. The role involves working with other engineering leaders to develop and evolve engineering processes and standard methodologies, prioritizing, scoping, planning, developing, and delivering projects, and establishing strong cross-functional relationships with product managers, user researchers, designers, analysts, and platform, data, and infrastructure teams. Etsy

Global online marketplace for handmade goods

About Etsy

Etsy is an online marketplace that connects buyers with sellers of handmade, vintage, and unique goods. The platform allows individual artisans, crafters, and small business owners to list a variety of products, such as jewelry, clothing, home decor, and personalized gifts. Etsy's marketplace is distinct because it focuses on one-of-a-kind items that are often not available in regular retail stores. The company generates revenue through transaction fees, listing fees, and optional advertising services that sellers can use to enhance their visibility. Additionally, Etsy offers subscription packages that provide sellers with advanced tools and analytics to help them grow their businesses.
