Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
2+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager and successfully managed a team of 3+ Software Engineers
Comfortable with many languages such as Python, Rust, Elixir, TS/JS and have a pulse on the surrounding language tooling ecosystems
Experience using Bazel as a build system
Experience working with many teams and stakeholders and have a track record of elegantly managing and communicating change
Worked with CI/CD systems like Buildkite, Gitlab, CircleCI, or others
Comfortable drafting the roadmap in concert with senior and staff engineers
Passionate about coaching and leading other engineers, but love to code when the opportunity arises
Get to the heart of issues and lead your team to come up with effective solutions

Responsibilities

Lead a team of seven engaged engineers: building autonomy, mastery, and purpose
Work with internal engineering teams to understand their pain points and set a clear vision to improve the effectiveness of the software development lifecycle
Build new developer experiences while balancing prioritization of existing systems such as dev environments, build and test tooling, CI, and client release tooling
Support the design and delivery of elegant build systems to produce minimized and easy-to-deploy container builds for customers all over Discord
Own and improve the operational health and processes of the team, including the internal helpdesk
