The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in people management for high-performing platform or infrastructure engineering teams, including setting clear goals, driving execution, developing product roadmaps, and supporting career growth. They should also possess 5+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and compute platforms, with significant time spent developing and shipping software. Strong technical judgment, a focus on scalability, performance, user experience, and quality, and excellent communication and empathy skills are essential. Experience with Go, Kubernetes, Argo, and Flux is a plus.
The Engineering Manager will lead a team to select, scope, and drive high-leverage projects focused on abstracting compute infrastructure details into a developer-facing platform. They will be responsible for hiring, onboarding, and building out the team to execute on a strategy for a more efficient, scalable, and user-friendly compute platform. This includes mentoring individual contributors, collaborating with various Reddit engineering teams, and continuously learning and improving technical and non-technical abilities.
