Candidates must have at least 2 years of experience in an engineering leadership role, such as Engineering Manager or Tech Lead. A strong foundation in software engineering and the software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) is essential. Hands-on experience with Java and Spring development is required, with familiarity in React, AWS, and microservice architectures being a strong plus. Proven experience in hiring, developing, and retaining diverse technical talent is necessary, along with the ability to lead through influence and alignment across multiple teams and stakeholders. Experience working closely with product managers and other business stakeholders is expected, as are excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory, and fluency in Polish is a plus. Experience with organizations transitioning from monolithic systems to microservices, background in regulated, enterprise, or high-scale environments, and familiarity with DevOps practices, containerization, and CI/CD pipelines are considered advantageous.
The Engineering Manager will lead and manage software engineering teams across multiple Scrum teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, ownership, and learning. They will support and develop team members through regular 1:1s, feedback, mentorship, and career development planning. The role involves partnering with HR to recruit top engineering talent and build diverse, inclusive, high-performing teams. Responsibilities include collaborating with senior engineering leadership to define and execute the Engineering Roadmap, ensuring high standards of engineering practices and delivery processes across teams. The manager will identify and address technical or operational challenges, driving improvements in onboarding, documentation, SDLC, and overall developer experience. They will facilitate communication of company vision and Engineering goals, ensuring alignment and promoting autonomy within teams. Contributing to the technical direction and roadmap in collaboration with other Engineering Managers and the Director of Engineering is key. Promoting a positive and inclusive team culture that encourages knowledge-sharing, collaboration, and psychological safety is expected. Approximately 30% of the time will be dedicated to hands-on code implementation and reviews, especially during critical phases.
