Requirements

  • 10 years of progressive experience in networking
  • Technical authority in multiple areas of Technology Infrastructure (TI), with understanding and application of organizational strategic direction, IT systems, and Infrastructure Architecture
  • Subject matter expertise in emerging security and connectivity technologies, with ability to seek, provide, or coordinate training and mentor system engineers
  • Expertise in technical strategic planning, including coordinating development of technical standards and processes across Infrastructure Engineering and TI areas
  • Ability to translate organizational structures to technical architectures and align technical solutions to business needs with a practical, optimal approach
  • Proven leadership in technology innovation, designing and implementing improved and innovative technical solutions to advance business opportunities
  • Strong quality and initiative focus, with experience implementing technical projects meeting production quality standards, applying out-of-the-box thinking, investigating quality improvements, reducing defects, and implementing repeatable processes

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for introduction of new security and connectivity technology capabilities, including Network strategy, planning, design, and continuous improvement
  • Work with various service providers to oversee implementation of infrastructure solutions
  • Plan, gather, and translate technical requirements into infrastructure solution designs aligned with business needs
  • Support TIES Network Engineering and operations team with all aspects of Network platforms and Operations
  • Manage relationships with key vendors and internal partners, including services, processes, and KPIs related to system design effectiveness, requirements traceability, customer/partner satisfaction, design quality, and system availability
  • Define and manage TI controls
  • Research new technologies and prototype new ideas
  • Manage and execute evaluation and introduction of all new TI technology (hardware and software)
  • Coordinate and execute all FOAK testing and POCs (scoping and execution)
  • Collaborate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment, security, and availability
  • Design, develop, and deliver scalable and automated capabilities and architecture (Infrastructure as code)
  • Identify and communicate design and engineering decisions to clients (costs, timelines, scope, prioritization, design decisions, risks) to TI
  • Procure hardware, software, software licensing, and manage licensing model choices
  • Provide Level 3 support for infrastructure and COTS software (rotating on-call, targeting 5% or less time)
  • Participate as required in delivery of customer projects
  • Govern functional services and processes (approvals, prioritization, key decisions)
  • Prioritize builds in coordination with Business and Demand Management function
  • Architect, design, and implement On-Prem and Cloud-based solutions
  • Ensure success in building and migrating applications, software, and services
  • Develop KPIs to simplify service consumption by end-users and engineers
  • Optimize and support existing Network technology and data centres
  • Minimize system integration complexity while maintaining reliability and business continuity
