Requirements

  • Experience coordinating overall engineering activities among AEP, EPC Contractor, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) for Generation capital and O&M projects
  • Ability to provide regular engineering progress updates to project team and stakeholders
  • Experience overseeing multi-discipline engineering work (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Substation and Balance of Plant Engineering analysis
  • Experience with Renewable NERC Compliance Coordination with Operations
  • Ability to review Technical Information Letters (TILs) and approve their integration into fleet assets
  • Ability to review M&D data and performance issues and recommend actions to each site
  • Journey level proficiency plus advanced knowledge in engineering to serve as a leader
  • Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures, and equipment
  • Understands and analyzes interrelationships between systems and component equipment
  • Interprets codes and regulations, and develops standards relevant to the area of assignment
  • Proficient in scheduling techniques (CPM, PERT, flow charts, etc.) for budget and planning activities
  • Collaborative and consensus building skills; functions as a team leader and member
  • Networks upward and downward in several disciplines inside and outside the AEP system

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the overall engineering activities among AEP, EPC Contractor, and OEMs for Generation capital and O&M projects
  • Provide regular engineering progress updates to the project team and stakeholders
  • Perform complex engineering work activities and projects requiring application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic manner
  • Provide guidance and exercise judgment in directing other Engineers
  • Lead, facilitate, and coordinate work activities of others within work group, team, department, or external entities
  • Ensure all work activities comply with company policies, practices, standards, rules, and external regulations
  • Promote engineering professionalism and standards; coordinate and conduct training sessions
  • Participate in development of plans by establishing measurable goals, objectives, and requirements
  • Coordinate development of input for projected project costs
  • Identify and initiate corrective action when objectives are not met
  • Identify, clarify, resolve, and initiate solutions to routine and/or complex problems
  • Develop, review, or prepare reports on complex technical subjects for management, professional societies, regulatory bodies, etc
  • Lead and facilitate meetings effectively
  • Make decisions affecting plans and goals based on analysis of uncertain input and outcomes
