Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental, Industrial Safety or related field
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Environmental, Health & Safety, or both, ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 10%

Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight and accountability for Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) operations at a single plant and assist in EHS activities at other sites as needed
  • Partner with EHS Cluster and Regional EHS leadership teams to implement Global, Regional, and plant EHS standards, practices, systems, and tools
  • Serve as the general subject matter expert for EHS operations within the plant
  • Provide technical support on EHS matters across the plant and drive initiatives as an individual contributor or leader of project teams
  • Partner with EHS Cluster members (e.g., Industrial Hygienist, Environmental Engineer, Occupational Health Nurse) and plant operations team to develop site-specific execution plans
  • Communicate EHS opportunities and risks to Plant and EHS leadership
  • Maintain general awareness of applicable international, state, local, and corporate EHS requirements
  • Lead the implementation of the plant’s EHS programs and processes
  • Implement a communication strategy to reinforce high levels of EHS awareness and ownership at all plant levels
  • Validate program and process implementation with hourly staff, team leaders, supervisors, and plant management
  • Review contract documentation for large projects for EHS-related issues
  • Oversee EHS technical, management, and process training for all employee levels based on needs and requirements
  • Track and communicate EHS performance metrics, including goals and core processes (e.g., audits, events, training)
  • Guide Plant Management and hourly staff in analyzing incidents and trends (e.g., injuries, spills, releases, permit compliance, inspections) to identify root causes, risk assessments, and preventative measures
  • Represent the EHS function in obtaining approval for capital and expenses to address EHS risks and opportunities
  • Partner with EHS Cluster and Regional EHS teams to fill gaps (e.g., industrial hygiene, occupational health, permitting, auditing)
  • Ensure prompt escalation of EHS issues to Business, Operational, and EHS Leadership
