Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, with over 6 years of experience in building services utilizing cloud-native infrastructure and tooling. Experience with deploying and maintaining bare-metal Kubernetes using tools like K3s, RKE2, or TalOS is required, alongside proficiency in Infrastructure as Code/GitOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, Helm, and Kustomize. A proven track record of building, releasing, and supporting highly available, consistently performant services is essential, along with knowledge of hardware implications for on-premise compute and experience in platform optimization, especially resource management and cluster tuning in constrained environments. The ideal candidate will also have a passion for programming, photography, remote sensing, earth sciences, and geography, with a willingness to learn about geospatial data.

Responsibilities

The Edge Compute Engineer will build and deploy software within customer environments for a next-generation imagery processing system, owning deployments, service orchestration, and documentation for cross-platform stakeholders. They will be responsible for scaling architecture while ensuring service availability, improving reliability and scalability by resolving edge cases, studying failure modes, and writing tests. This role includes participating in on-call rotations to ensure operational excellence and collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Engineering Management, and engineering teams on system design and roadmapping for scalable and robust solutions.
