Candidates should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical field, with a Master's degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years of experience managing data engineering or software engineering teams and 7 years of hands-on data engineering experience, including designing, developing, and optimizing large-scale data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows, is required. Proficiency in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing frameworks like PySpark, along with experience in modern data platforms (Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, Kafka) and cloud architecture systems (Azure, AWS, GCP), is essential. Strong data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance knowledge, coupled with demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration and leadership/mentoring skills, are also necessary. The ability to communicate long-term vision and roadmap milestones effectively is a key requirement.
The Data Engineering Manager will lead and mentor a team of Data Engineers, Scrum Leads, Architects, and Product Managers to build scalable analytic data foundations. Responsibilities include architecting, designing, and implementing data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration workflows using modern data engineering tools and cloud-native technologies. The role also involves ensuring high data quality, reliability, and availability across batch and real-time data processing systems, establishing and promoting best practices in data engineering, and contributing to the evolution of data architecture and long-term strategies. Additionally, the manager will oversee on-call rotations, ensure operational excellence, system reliability, and timely incident response for production data pipelines.
