Job Description: The Opportunity

This position works out of our Abbott Park, IL location. The Economic Analyst will be an integral member of a global corporate economics department, working in a team-based environment to support and promote the economics function at Abbott. The analyst will apply a working knowledge of economic and financial market principles to understand the external environment and support ongoing business needs.

What You’ll Work On

The analyst will work on a variety of projects that support Abbott’s global businesses, focusing on industry and market analysis. Specific tasks may include:

  • Applying statistical and financial analysis of public and private data, to provide timely insights of underlying trends and patterns for key markets
  • Constructing and maintaining various economic indexes, dashboards, and other data visualization & reporting tools
  • Monitoring and tracking changes in global financial markets and how they relate to economic, healthcare, geopolitical, and industry risks
  • Contributing research, econometric and time series analysis, and data visualization to department reports and communications

Required Qualifications

  • A degree in Economics, Finance, or related field.
  • The ability to work on both independent and group projects, and to interact with internal colleagues across functions and levels, while contributing to the overall growth of the team
  • A strong interest in economic and financial issues along with the curiosity and desire to develop their personal skill set

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong Excel skills, and experience with or willingness to learn econometric/statistics software as needed
  • Experience working with economic and financial data from multiple data sources
  • Strong written skills, including the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts and themes to a general business audience
  • 1-2 years of prior work experience in an economic or financial analyst role.

Compensation

The base pay for this position is $60,000.00 – $120,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
