Director, Technical Consulting Services

Position Overview
The Director, Technical Consulting Services will manage Workday data, integrations, Prism, Reporting, Extend, and AI initiatives across the EMEA region, linking into global Workday practice and Cognizant wider EPS initiatives. This role involves overseeing a team of expert managers and setting the strategic direction for these areas in conjunction with the Cognizant Workday Practice leaders. The Director will also support the sales team with activities such as orals, estimations, and Statements of Work (SOWs). This individual will work closely with Engagement Managers, Project Managers, Managing Consultants, and leads, acting as a liaison between the Consulting team and executive management. Key functions include identifying business needs, staffing projects, and ensuring the work/life balance of consultants is monitored and adjusted appropriately.
Key Responsibilities
Project Oversight
- Oversight responsibility for projects across the practice.
- Oversee and assist engagement/project managers and team members when needed to identify project needs, reduce risk, and develop solutions and strategies.
Sales Support
- Support the RFP response and pursuit process for technical consulting work.
- Resource appropriate technical experts and own/fulfill the technical role.
Team Leadership
- Assist in the recruitment, development, and management of a diverse, remote team of consultants supporting Workday applications.
- Promote a team-oriented, challenging, and innovative work environment.
- Lead and manage Senior Managers and/or Managing Consultants to ensure consultants adhere to activities, processes, and procedures outlined in Workday and the Cynergy Implementation Methodology.
- Drive team and individuals to achieve high customer satisfaction levels.
- Establish immediate credibility with clients and within the company; build consensus and achieve goals through influence.
- Build trust-based relationships and identify/foster business development opportunities.
People Development
- Perform the role of mentor and coach.
- Analyze team skills and provide for cross-training to maintain teams’ ability to staff projects appropriately.
- Advise management team on team members’ level of expertise and availability.
Performance Management
- Establish direct reports’ goals and objectives during the bi-annual review process.
- Direct the collection of performance feedback from customers and engagement/project managers quarterly or upon project completion for the entire team.
- Direct the collection of all internal contributions for team members, assuring data is received by HR quarterly.
- Drive the bi-annual performance review process for the Consulting team.
Experience and Requirements
- Possess 7-10 years of Workday (or other ERP) Technical Consulting implementation experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Proven experience leading a virtual team.
- Required Characteristics: Fast learner, detail-oriented, decisive, and enjoys fast-paced work environments.
- Must work well within and across teams to get things accomplished.
- Possess sales engagement experience, including estimating and presenting to prospects.
