Requirements

Leadership experience in R&D, particularly in directing electronic, mechanical, and system design for medical devices and equipment
Expertise in Mechanical Circulatory Support (MCS) products and related technology development
Ability to provide high-level program management, strategic decision-making, and ownership for product development programs
Experience shaping technology roadmaps and establishing product segment strategies with cross-functional senior management
Strong people leadership skills, including recruiting, coaching, and developing talent up to R&D Director level
Proven ability to foster a diverse, entrepreneurial, and results-oriented culture in R&D teams
Skills in change management, effective leadership, and turning around challenge programs
Capability to build strategic partnerships internally and externally with executive management, regulatory agencies, customers, vendors, and suppliers
Experience coordinating across functional areas, business units, and geographies
Advanced technical/professional knowledge to establish and utilize skills in R&D development functions

Responsibilities

Provide leadership, vision, and direction for a critical R&D development function and/or R&D program in MCS
Lead electronic, mechanical, and system design for medical device and equipment functions
Collaborate across the division to optimize products, development programs, strategy, and budgets
Conduct high-level program management coordination and strategic decision ownership for MCS products and technology development
Shape the leading-edge technology roadmap and build relevant technical competence in R&D teams to deliver business product roadmap and support product life cycle management
Establish product segment strategies in concert with cross-functional senior management and ensure clear strategic direction for product teams
Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent; foster a diverse workplace enabling full contributions
Create an entrepreneurial, can-do, results-oriented culture and transform R&D teams to deliver on challenge programs
Provide general direction to directors, managers, exempt specialists, and non-exempt support staff
Keep the organization's vision and values at the forefront of decision-making and action
Demonstrate effective change management and leadership
Build strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives
Interact with executive-level management, regulatory agencies, customers, vendors, and suppliers
Coordinate across functional areas, business units, and geographies to achieve company goals
