Requirements

  • Ability to develop and target local prospects with sales volume of $0.5M+ annually
  • Experience in sales strategy planning and implementation (geography, menu segment, etc.) for sustained sales and margin growth
  • Product, organizational, and customer knowledge to influence prospects and generate revenue
  • Ability to produce new account revenue targets: minimum $2M in first year, $5M annually thereafter (or as agreed with Division President)
  • Oversight and management of New Business Managers (NBMs) in the Area/Market
  • Proficiency in utilizing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to support NBM development (opening high-potential accounts, sales dollars, gross profit)
  • Research skills for customer requirements, menu design, business size, suppliers, market trends, product innovations, competitors
  • Coaching and teaching abilities for NBM onboarding and processes (credit applications, NIR/SODS, profitable assortments, A/P terms, delivery, credit policy, value proposition, team selling, Check Business Tools, profit models)
  • Ability to build rapport between NBMs and functional teams (Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Procurement, Marketing)
  • Experience working with DCS & VPLS on customer transition plans
  • Skills in maintaining relationships with key decision makers in customer and prospect base

Responsibilities

  • Pursue highest potential sales leads for conversion to US Foods customers
  • Provide strategic support to sellers by capturing high-potential growth opportunities and developing market share
  • Manage all aspects of driving new local sales to meet or exceed company goals for sales and profitability
  • Assist New Business Managers in developing business plans to capture and penetrate market share, focusing on prospects >$0.5M annually
  • Oversee all NBMs in the Area/Market and report to Area AP
  • Support and develop NBMs using KPIs for opening highest potential new accounts, sales dollars, and gross profit
  • Assist in creation and execution of new business strategy
  • Research potential customer requirements, analyze market trends, stay informed on conditions/innovations/competitors, share info/menu ideas/products with customers
  • Teach business processes and coach NBMs through onboarding and efficiencies
  • Build functional rapport between NBMs and supporting teams (Operations, Merchandising, Finance, Procurement, Marketing)
  • Work with DCS & VPLS on customer transition plans to sellers
  • Maintain ongoing relationships with key decision makers in customer/prospect base
  • Oversee selling of company products/services; may sell directly; source new sales talent
