Requirements

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, along with at least 10 years of experience in software engineering, including 5 years in a leadership role, and a Staff+ Engineer or Architect background. They should be technically astute with experience in guiding complex architectural decisions for high-volume, high-performance consumer web applications, and possess a strong understanding of how Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming engineering practices and e-commerce personalization.

Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering will lead a team of approximately 25 engineers, directly managing an engineering leadership team, and be responsible for fostering a culture of effective collaboration with product management, UX, analytics, and other teams to achieve shared goals. They will oversee the successful completion of the migration from a legacy monolithic architecture to a modern Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), lead engineering efforts for strategic business initiatives, including optimizing traffic channels and revamping core business logic, and guide critical technical decisions across the Shopping and Discovery engineering stack. Additionally, they will manage third-party vendors, contribute to talent development, and actively contribute to the development and optimization of all commerce-related features, enhancing key performance indicators for the customer journey.
