Requirements

Candidates must possess 8+ years of progressive experience in construction management for retail, with a focus on multi-unit retail operators and experience in building out retail spaces in high-growth, consumer-facing industries. Expertise in managing full development lifecycles, including strategy, sourcing, negotiation, construction, and delivery, is required, along with deep knowledge of MEP systems, construction documents, permitting, and ADA compliance. Experience working with remote teams and managing complex, multi-region project timelines, along with exceptional communication, budgeting, and vendor management skills, is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Director of Cafe Development will lead all construction processes for new cafe and facility builds, renovations, and upgrades, defining and executing a globally scalable cafe development process with accountability for on-time, on-budget openings in North America. They will oversee budgeting, bidding, scheduling, permitting, and construction execution across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring cost-effective delivery through value engineering and rigorous cost control. Responsibilities include maintaining and evolving construction standards, vetting and managing contractors, consultants, and vendors, conducting site reviews, and partnering closely with Real Estate and Design teams. The role involves establishing KPIs, reporting project status to senior leadership, and shaping the brand's physical presence and customer experience.
